The Association’s motto, “Omnes ab omnibus discamus”, literally translated “Let us learn all things from everybody”, reflects the aim of founder Lord Moynihan; to break the arrogant and insular elitism of surgeons and encourage them to learn from each other.

Displayed subtly on the lower portion of the dial, this serves as a daily reminder of that core value. The red seconds hand is another nod to the coat of arms representing the healing art of medicine as practised in the science of surgery.

The black, gold and red colour scheme reflects the rich colours of the ASGBI coat of arms.

Turn it over and you’ll find customised casebacks with an embossed coat of arms displayed proudly in the centre.

Individual names or messages can be engraved upon request. We'll email you to confirm those details after the order is confirmed.

Sizes and Fitting

Do you have any ladies specific watches?

Our Maraí 401 dive watch range is for people of all genders. It’s 40mm sizing is perfect proportions for a dive watch to optimise legibility underwater whilst day to day, wearing like a “medium” for those with a larger wrist size, or feeling like a size “large” for those with a smaller wrist.

Our future product range will include a wider range of both smaller and larger time pieces.

Will it fit my wrist size?

Nomadic watches fit most mens and ladies wrist sizes. As standard, bracelets fit wrists from 5 to 8.5" inches (14-22 cm). For larger wrist sizes you can request additional links by emailing info@nomadicwatches.com or contact us via the live chat function.

Are the bracelet / straps easy to change?

Changing between the bracelet and any other strap is quite straightforward and all tools needed are provided. If you haven’t changed a watch strap before, it can be a little bit fiddly, so take your time. Our team, or any local jeweller will be able to help with this if you get stuck. This video from watch expert Adrian Barker is an excellent guide - Changing Watch Straps

The steel bracelet can be easily adjusted by adding or removing links. Links are screwed in with a bolt which can be easily removed with the tools provided. Follow along with our video guides here our team or any local jeweller will be able to help with this if you get stuck.

If you measure your wrist size and let us know, we can size it in advance for you before shipping. This does not impact your warranty or guarantee however this would void the 30-day returns policy due to the watch being customised for your size.

How do you adjust the bracelet size?

Watch our video guides here.

We provide the necessary tools to adjust the bracelet at home. Our bracelets utilise screw in links which can be easily removed using the small screw driver provided. The use of Loctite thread lock fluid (provided) is highly recommended to ensure screws remain secure over long term use.

The screws are small and can be fiddly so taking the watch to a local jeweller for sizing can be helpful. This can usually be done within a few minutes for a very small fee.

Can you size the bracelet for me in advance?

If you measure your wrist size and let us know, we can size it free of charge in advance for you before shipping. This does not impact your warranty or guarantee however this would void your 30 day free returns policy due to the watch being customised for your size.

Simply email us with your wrist size and order confirmation number to info@nomadicwatches.com Sizing will delay shipping 1 business day.

Does the bracelet still have rivets on the side?

No, all of our watches have been moved to a new style of bracelet with flush screw in links.

Some of our original first edition watches had rivets on the bracelets. Less than 100 pieces of these were ever produced.

Do you offer engraving?

Yes we certainly do. If you email info@nomadicwatches.com we can discuss and advise available options and pricing.

Please note that engraving will delay dispatch date by 2-3 days. Any engraved or customised watches are considered final sales and are not eligible for the 30 day free return option. It does not impact your guarantee or warranty.

Specifications

What is an automatic watch?

Automatic movements use energy from the motion of your wrist. Every time the watch moves, a weighted rotor attached to the back of the movement spins, automatically winding the mainspring which drives the internal gears. Since the mainspring exerts a variance in driving force depending on how tightly wound it is, the accuracy of an automatic watch fluctuates depending on usage. The Maraí 401 is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 movement which is accurate to +/- 11 seconds per day. Automatic movements do not use batteries so you will never need to replace a battery.

What movement/mechanism do you use?

Our Maraí 401 dive watch is powered by the Sellita SW200-1. This is a fully automatic self winding mechanism made in Switzerland. We use the standard grade which is accurate to +/-11sec per day.

About Nomadic

What is Nomadic?

Nomadic is a watch company from Belfast that specialises in attainable, modern tool watches with attention to detail and rugged durability. Inspired by Belfast’s shipbuilding history, bold endeavours, and a longing for adventure, Nomadic sits at the confluence of heritage and modern purpose-led lifestyles. The company is named after the SS Nomadic, the last remaining White Star Line ship in the world, and the nomadic pursuit of new horizons.

Why do Nomadic watches have a yellow seconds hand?

All Nomadic watches have a yellow seconds hand which has been an integral part of the design of Nomadic timepieces from the beginning. This is a nod to Belfast and the two great icons of the skyline, Samson and Goliath, the twin shipbuilding gantry cranes of Harland and Wolff.

Where are your watches made?

We have just invested in a state-of-the-art watch assembly and testing facility in Belfast, which is due to be fully operational by Q3 2023.

The modern watch industry is complex, with many interwoven connections and suppliers. Nomadic uses Swiss-made movements, supplied by Sellita.

We have blended the best of Swiss movement technology with the design inspiration and spirit of Belfast’s iconic past.

Our long-term ambition is to make all of our watches and components, except the Swiss movement, here in Belfast. At the moment, our cases and other components are produced by a trusted supplier in Asia that operates from a world-class clean room facility, which far exceeds the process capabilities of anything available locally. This supplier also provides watches and components for many well-known European watch brands.

What Guarantee do you offer?

Every Nomadic watch is subjected to a rigorous set of tests to ensure its precision and reliability. Our rock solid confidence in the quality of our craftsmanship and attention to detail, allows us to offer a 2 year guarantee on all our watches.

All Nomadic watches are covered by a limited 24-month warranty. Accessories are covered by a limited 12-month warranty.

Warranty terms do not extend to damage arising from improper use, normal wear and tear, improper maintenance, alteration, misuse, negligence, or otherwise not arising from defects of material or workmanship.

How often does the watch need servicing?

Your Nomadic watch requires servicing every 3-5 years. We recommend servicing be carried out by an authorised Nomadic service centre.

This can be arranged by contacting us at info@nomadicwatches.com.
