No Place Like Home

Nomadic Watches has always been about more than building great tool watches. It's a brand rooted in Belfast, in its people, its character, and the feeling of being proud of where you come from. We partnered with Belfast artist AJ Laird to create a 20-piece limited edition of the Maraí 401, designed as a tribute to home, identity, and the city’s most iconic industrial landmark: the Harland & Wolff cranes, a symbol that needs no introduction if you’re from Belfast.

A.J is a self-taught artist whose work can be found in many homes and businesses across the globe. With numerous high-profile clients and owners of his work including His Majesty, King Charles III and The Queen.

No two pieces are the same

This special edition Maraí 401 is finished in our blackout coating and features AJ's signature on the dial. At six o’clock you can see a hand-finished miniature painting of the Harland & Wolff cranes. It’s a small rendition of AJ’s original work, ‘No Place Like Home’. Each dial is individually hand-finished by AJ, so no two pieces are exactly alike. It’s a wearable art piece that ties Belfast’s shipbuilding past to a modern, everyday dive watch.

This project was built around a simple message: “There’s No Place Like Home.” Instead of leading with technical specs, the release led with meaning, celebrating Belfast in a way that felt honest and earned. Scarcity wasn’t used as a gimmick. It was part of the integrity of the project: a small run, made for people who would truly understand it. And the response proved the point. The entire release sold out in under 24 hours, not because it was louder than everything else on the market, but because it was more real. It resonated with collectors, locals, and anyone who understands what it means to carry a piece of home with you.
