When Nomadic brand ambassador, Sander van Eck, approached us about creating a film that would capture the adventures of a close-knit group of friends united by their love for surfing and the natural beauty of Ireland and Northern Ireland, our imaginations were instantly sparked.
Here at Nomadic, we believe that humans are happier when connected to their natural surroundings and want to inspire people to partake in any activity that deepens their connection to nature. Supporting Sander's surf expedition film was a 'no-brainer.'
Exploring the raw allure of Ireland’s wild Atlantic coast, "Backroads" showcases the quest for perfect waves amidst harsh weather and challenging terrains. Directed by José González, the film chronicles the journey of Hanno from Germany, Robin from Switzerland, and our own Sander from the Netherlands, as they navigate the backroads, driving through peat bogs and tracks that barely resemble roads. These friends, though not native to Ireland, have found a second home in its welcoming communities and breathtaking landscapes.
We’re thrilled to be part of the project, and it’s been a joy having Sander as part of the extended Nomadic team and family. He pushes his Maraí 401 to the limits daily, battling the elements all year round.
