The watch is a quality piece and from the moment I got it in hand it felt substantial. It’s very well finished and has a very nice aesthetic. On the wrist it is very comparable.
My only gripe is that the movement in mine is not very well regulated.

Brightness in dark times

Phosphorescent hands and dial markers use SuperLumiNova® to release stored light energy slowly, providing vital detail at a glance when the sun dips below the horizon.

A fitting tribute

The Turas 914’s exhibition case back is a tribute to the 1914 endurance expedition. There’s a small engraving of the men’s famous life boat – the James Caird - and their struggle in pulling it across 830 icy miles. The Shackleton family’s motto is engraved on the watch back: ‘Through endurance we conquer.’

THROUGH ENDURANCE WE CONQUER. TOGETHER, WE MAKE PROGRESS.

Turas is an Irish word meaning, journey or expedition. It’s a name chosen with careful consideration to sum up the timeless, robust elegance of our latest watch, because it’s not just about the timepiece.

In creating the Turas 914 we wanted pay homage to two of Nomadic’s most admired heroes – the explorer, Ernest Shackleton and his wingman, Tom Crean. Both Irish in one way or another and both exemplars of unfailing determination and exceptional leadership judgement in the face of overwhelming odds against survival.

The 914 of the watch’s name references 1914, the year Shackleton and his men set sail aboard Endurance, their ship that would eventually become trapped and crushed in polar ice.

Pictures do not do it justice!

Pictures do not do it justice! I love the deep green of the black shamrock. Although it was a tough watch to get I was lucky to get 19/33. This is my second Nomadic and definitely not my last!

Detail on the dial might be better in person!

Very glad I decided to try this piece sight unseen. The detail on the dial might be better in person than what’s captured in Nomadic’s excellent marketing pieces. It took me several weeks to get used to the size.

An Initial problem with the watch was sorted out quickly and professionally and I am now wearing it daily. I have had several comments about it, very happy with the watch. Great watch!

Bought and sold way too many watches over the years, but never before experienced this level of customer service. Greg and Matt were amazing hosts at the Nomadic HQ in Belfast, and spent well over an hour talking about the history of the brand and giving us a tour of their workshop. Matt explained their quality monitoring processes and even gave us a demonstration on my watch. The build quality and finish of the Marai 401 easily matches watches costing a great deal more. But best of all is that you get to wear a little bit of Belfast on your wrist, wherever life takes you,

It feels great to wear

Love the watch,it is really classy looking. Friends and others admire it and love the back story. I have a number of high end watches and this watch sits beautifully with them. It feels great to wear, keeps excellent time and remains luminous for over 4 hours. A great watch.

Great watch!

Acquiring my first Nomadic watch has been an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. Peter was fantastic in replying to all of my questions and made everything a very easy and reassuring process. This was the first time I have purchased a high quality watch and the Turas 914 has met and even exceeded my expectations. It is beautifully crafted with classic style, and the "Built In Belfast" links it to my heart. There was a time before I knew of Nomadic that I aspired to someday own a Rolex. Now that never enters my mind. My only thought is of when I will be able to have another Nomadic in my life! The only issue when that day comes will be how to wear two watches simultaneously because the Turas never leaves my wrist!

Great watch!

This was my first "expensive" watch and I have to say it felt it from the second I put it on. It just felt right. The dial is a real stunner and gets noticed a lot and then of course you get to tell the story behind the watch. My only criticism would be that on the white dial the yellow seconds hand does not stand out very well. I liked the watch so much that I've just purchased a Marai :-)

The watch looks stunning

It took me a while to decide to buy the Marai 401 over the other options I was considering. Tag, Vertical, Hamilton, longines to name a few. I have a Breitling which spends its time in a case and I wanted an everyday watch that was easy to wear and looked good. The story behind Nomadic and it's links to Belfast won the day. The watch looks stunning, wears great and it hasn't left my wrist since I got it. If you're considering one, don't waste anymore time mulling it over.. do it.. you won't regret it!
